Hello all, I’ve found a short video on YouTube that has some live footage of the actual sinking of the Andrea Doria.  Hope you enjoy.  I am trying to get some more resources to post, and I should have some articles and interesting information for you by the end of the month…..

Stay tuned!

New Updates

Progress has been slow, but I have started adding information, and updates to both “The Story”, and the “Survivors” pages of the site.  If you bear with me, I promise the site will become more interesting with time, as well as a source for useful information and updates on events.

Thanks for your patience, and until then,

Latest Fatality

Fifty-two years after her sinking, I regret to inform the world, the luxury liner, and dear friend of us all, Andrea Doria has claimed anoher life.

I don’t have all of the details right now, but will keep the site updated when I find any information.  It appears a man by the name of Terry DeWolf did not surface yesterday morning after a dive to the wreck, and after a distress call to US Coast Guard in Southeastern New England, a search consisting of 2 Jayhawk helicopters, and the Coast Guard Cutter “Hammerhead” took chase.

The body was recovered by fellow divers aboard the dive vessel “John Jack” on a subsequant dive, and with assistance of the Coast Guard was helped aboard.  The John Jack returned to port at approximately 08:30 Thursday July 31st and turned the body over to the East Hampton Police.

This is the 15th such death while diving the Doria, and hopefully the last.  As mentioned, I will try to keep everyone updated as I receive any information.  Until then, please take a moment to reflect on the precious life that was lost, and remember that even with todays technology, dive equipment, and skill, the Atlantic takes what she will.

Welcome!!

While you may not find much on the site presently, I am certainly working on it. This is a place where I would like to share my story, post news about the Andrea Doria, link you to other rescources regarding the ship, and hopefully, offer some insight into what actually happened that fateful, foggy evening in 1956.

Please Check out my Gallery of my most recent dive here: Andrea Doria 2008

Until Then My Best Wishes,
